Vdara Hotel & Spa at ARIA Las Vegas

The Strip, Las Vegas

Virgin rating

The hotel

Designed for those who want to tap into the energy and excitement of Las Vegas but would prefer to enjoy it from an exclusive, non-gaming and smoke-free resort, Vdara is one of few hotels in Vegas not to house a casino. What you get instead is a cosmopolitan, all-suite hotel that feels blissfully private despite being in the heart of the action. The cutting-edge pool is surrounded by private retreats, semi-private plunge pools and cabanas; there’s a world-class spa, and you are a few short minutes away from a dizzying range of dining, shopping and entertainment options, so you’ll never be short of things to do. The Vdara really is an oasis in the desert.

We arrived 14.35 ish at reception to be less then greeted by a surly lady who really didn’t want to engage with us. Asked for ID and C.card and told us $360 odd dollars would be held upfront for the room . When i said room is comped her reply was go and check with your host as my system does not show that . I tried to show her email from my Host and from MGM direct proving it was comped she didn’t want to see it and continued to insist I reach out to my host. After an 8 hr drive I don’t see it my job to fix their mistakes . How can MGM not accept their own email with confirmation numbers as proof and try to amend their own mistake? . Up on my insistence and wish to speak to her supervisor she finally picked up the phone to speak to someone and I emailed my host and finally issue resolved. Then at 14.45 ish , 15 minutes before check in time she refused to assign us a room saying we should come back at 15.00 . This is a five star hotel with hundreds of rooms I don’t accept they don’t have a standard room cleaned and ready 15 minutes before check in. It was purely malice on receptionists part . Again I insisted on a room and one was assigned on 5th floor overlooking the tramline . I’ve been coming to Vdara for many years now, this is the worst reception I've ever received. On the positive, room was immaculately clean as where lobby and bathrooms ,staff engaging and friendly and food at Aria tasty with superb service even a late checkout was accommodated. However one bad apple ruins it for the rest. Read less

Beautiful room, great location, excellent staff members, loved that it was smoke free due to having no casino, and the indoor walkways between Bellagio and Cosmopolitan were welcome due to the blistering heat outdoors. Would recommend staying here. On arrival we had a three hour wait for our room as their systems went down so they had to do everything by paper. I can only imagine how much work that created for everyone but they handled it well, although they did forget about us sat in the lobby waiting patiently for our room. We did get compensated for the delay which was decent of them to do.  We had a studio fountain view room which we would recommend staying in as the views are spectacular, and the room was spacious. As we walked in, we had views of the mountains to the left and straight ahead, and to the right we had the fountains and the strip, with the sphere amusing us with that emoji face 😃. The kitchenette was nice, but the fridge was tiny. We went to Wholefoods to buy breakfasts and could barely fit anything in there. There was no toaster so we bought one from Target for $12 that did us for the 10 nights we had there. The bed was so comfortable and I slept well, which is unusual for me when staying away from home! 10/10 for the bed. The bathroom was lovely with a deep bath and powerful tap to fill it with. The shower could be better though. The spray can't be adjusted which is a shame, and the actual jet of water could be better. We used the pool a couple of times which was nice, but it was 44°C when we were there and the heat was too much for me, so with there being no shaded part to swim in I had to get out and hide from the sun where possible. If I had an improvement for the pool area I'd suggest more shaded areas as we couldn't stay out there for long in the heat, and I burn easily too. There is a walkway to Bellagio and Cosmopolitan hotels, so when it's too hot to go outside, it's ideal to stay inside with the very much appreciated air con, and still get around. All staff members were met were lovely and friendly, the hotel is clean, and we would definitely stay there again. Read less

Hamza, at the registration desk, is the absolute best. My wife and I travel the world and Hamza is at the very top of our list for service. He’s the most friendly and tries his best to accommodate our requests. We specifically choose to stay at Vdara when he is working.

A mixed bag of the feeling of being “home” and wondering what you did to deserve such poor service! Check in was smooth and friendly. The young lady, (name beginning with L and with a boyfriend who worked at The MSG Sphere) at check in was a credit to MGM Resorts. Our enquiry regarding the availability of an upgrade was handled professionally with a call to management. We were granted a higher floor, from 7 to 32, with a partial fountain view and to a Parlour suite. Very grateful for this upgrade and service such as this makes you feel part of the MGM family, this being our 2nd 9 night stay at this property and our 6th with MGM resorts. The room itself was interesting. Similar to that of our last stay but the Parlour Suite has what can be described as a room divider, separating the bed area from the lounge. A decent idea, giving 2 tv’s and an element of privacy although the dividing unit became an obstacle being positioned adjacent the wardrobe. However, still grateful for the upgrade…with a partial fountain view and views of The Rio, Bellagio pools etc. The Vdara is perfectly located within 5mins walk of Bellagio, and Cosmopolitan via internal walkways and Aria via a pathway above Harmon Ave. Park MGM is a further 5mins beyond Aria and New York New York an additional 5mins. For us the oasis of Vdara’s location is excellent. Vdara benefits from being a non smoking hotel…without a casino, making it a welcome fresh change to most other hotels. The ground floor bar is useful with a decent range of drinks and bar food…sadly sporting the bizarre prices now prevalent throughout the strip. The Vdara ha so many positives, however the negatives have scarred our view of the property. On the plus side…Location, see above, is hard to beat. The views, depending on floor, can be jaw dropping. The rooms are well designed suites, not the usual hotel rooms in most Strip hotels. The escape it provides, being a non smoking, non gaming property, is a welcome break from relentless Casinos. A decent bar, a Starbucks and the Market Cafè are useful, albeit expensive. ALL staff we encountered were friendly and professional. The negatives….our room on arrival appeared not to have been dusted for months. The desk and the window sills were very dusty. Despite housekeeping “cleaning” the room approx 5 times in our 9 night stay they seemed to have missed the writeable dust on the first 4 occasions. They also missed replacing shower gel, tissues and left us very short of toilet roll. The biggest negative was our request for a late check out, 11.00am being the norm. We were offered 12.00pm complimentary, for which we were grateful, our flight was close to 10pm. The powers that be decided that a check beyond 12pm would cost a full day rack rate of $330. We needed the room till 5pm but the best they could do was charge us for an additional night at their standard rate. So, seriously, $330 for 5 hours in a room you could sell from 6pm to another customer?? Sadly this has soured my relationship with The Vdara and MGM Resorts. I’m sure at our last stay we paid a 50% rate for a later check out, simply to shower and change before leaving. We felt that our stay was no longer important, we were ex customers and if we wanted to rejoin it would cost $330! This kind of service makes us look for another property on our next visit to Vegas, once vociferously big fans of The Vdara we now feel like victims of an attempted ripped off! Read less

Travelled to America for my honeymoon in a 4 part road trip and was advised by a friend to check out the Vdara. It did not disappoint, if you are looking for a hotel that isn't a casino but with a great location then look no further. We arrived around 7pm and quickly checked in and were given a room on the 16th floor. The room was huge, not an amazing view, as we were on the wrong side of the hotel to be facing the strip, but a view non the less being on the 16th floor. The hotel its self, is connected to the Bellagio and the Cosmopolitan so is in prime location. Mini fridge and coffee located in the room along with a bottle of water which was replenished each day. The only negative i have for this patient is that the cleaning staff (i presume) stole my aftershave. I left it on the side in the bathroom and it disappeared after 1 night. More so annoying than a massive issue. Read less
