The whole staycation was a success, from the moment we parked our car to the checking in and the friendliness of the whole team. The hotel is in a beautiful location surrounded by the beach and a lot of greenery. The suite was over the expectation and the service is over the moon. I will definitely do it again

I had an amazing dining experience at the Mekong Chinese Restaurant in Mina Al Arab, Anantara Ras Al Khaimah. The food was exceptional, with authentic flavors and a great variety of dishes. Special mention to Fransiska and Easha for their outstanding service and warm hospitality. They made our visit truly memorable. Highly recommended!

We jumped at the chance for a Maldives type experience with half of the journey time! And whilst Mina Al Arab delivers on a number of levels, there is definitely still work to do! The Peninsula Villas are beautiful, and well thought out, plenty of room inside and out. The resort as a whole is well laid out, not too large, but requiring transport during the hotter months. The food and restaurants were almost perfect for the full week we were in resort - some of the best meals we have had on holiday. It did get a bit same-y after a week on half board, I think one of the eateries was closed but not sure why, so we skipped a couple of meals at the end, but Mekong and breakfast are huge plus points. The couple of key issues, raised by many in previous reviews, were the pool and the buggies. I can't fathom why, after a few short months, the main pool is in such a poor state, and so poorly designed! Aside from the many many tiles missing, it has been designed with a 'wave' in the middle - or a 'bump' for want of a better description... essentially a raised area throughout most of the pool meaning the water level is no more than 0.5m and a bit of a hazard to say the least. Amazing fail on Anantara's part, and they would do well to rip it out and start again. The situation with the buggies is frustrating because a) the hotel know they have a problem, they apologize profusely but don't improve the situation; and b) it is not a lack of buggies but a lack of drivers! There are empty buggies all over the resort, but no one to drive them. It was a 10min walk from the villa to the lobby, which in 42C+ heat is not fun; on one of the many occasions no buggy turned up, we walked all the way to the lobby to find four buggies just sat there, including one with 'our' butler about to take some towels somewhere! I noticed one agency driver brought in, but really guys, the buggies are there, just get some drivers in (they literally go at 8mph, how hard can it be!). Another time we waited in our room, gave up, and found two buggies with drivers waiting at the neighboring villa - neither offered a lift! Such a frustrating experience. As I mentioned, a butler is assigned (not sure if this is just the villas, or all rooms), but in reality it is just a WhatsApp chat that is a bit hit and miss. Our butler was very friendly and tried his best, I think it is the management direction that is letting things down, operationally this resort is just missing the mark. Overall we had a lovely time, but Anantara are charging Maldivian prices (we actually paid more than our Maldives trip last year!) for a service that is not quite there. They can do so much better if they heed travelers advice, and can justify their prices. If not, they are going to struggle to attract high end travelers in such a competitive market. Read less
