Overall we loved our stay. It's hard not to enjoy anywhere on property to at least some degree and this was no different. Our room 2424 was in a great location. Couple of minutes walk to the pool or hospitality house and right by the peninsular road bus stop so you get dropped back first ( when getting on. A bus walk to hospitality house to avoid a long drive round the resort on the buses). Room was large, clean and had a good kitchenette with an impressively large fridge and small ice box. Room was spotless. OKW itself is beautiful and it's great being able to park right outside the room (we drive everywhere other than MK - and the odd boat trip to Disney springs). Staff were all really friendly we love being told "welcome home." There were some negatives. I know when you rent DVC housekeeping is every four days but our room was not cleaned until our final night (11 nights in to the trip) other than that the trash seemed to be emptied daily and we were given fresh towels every four days. I do miss more frequent housekeeping. The pool also looks very tired and is grubby. It needs a deep clean and probably a full refurb. One time on a bus back from MK the bus wen to Animal kingdom lodge first before OKW the driver didn't warn anyone it was only when the journey seemed to be taking a long time we asked the driver who said it was a "floating" bus. It probably took a good 40 minutes on the bus to get back. Not the best. Also on our final morning a large grass mower woke us up before half 6 am mowing the golf course. Hardly appropriate. Despite this we'd of course love to stay again and just wish the little niggles were not there. Read less

Another amazing stay at Old Key West. We are already planning our trip next March. Never ever disappointed. Our 2nd home for sure. Always find the best gifts. Everyone is so helpful. Counting the days to our next visit. Wish we could live there.

I have been a DVC member for about 10 years now. We go to Disney twice if not three times a year and have been doing so for quite a while now. We usually try different hotels on property to get a feel for the other hotels. Our home hotel is Animal Kingdom. Usually, I am pretty pleased with the Hotels, but unfortunately, this time I was not. The room came up a little short. I work in the Hospitality industry and understand all the challenges it faces especially after covid. We stayed 10 days at the resort and then switched over to another hotel for the remainder of 3 days we had left. We had a problem with the air conditioner the first night. We waited until 4pm to get our room, but when we entered in the room it was 76 degrees. Not sure why the housekeeper didn't say anything about it to the front before we checked in. We went up to talk to the front and they were very accommodating and told us they would handle it. When we came back it was reading 74 so we assumed it was handled, because it was a hot day, and we knew it would never get to 65 degrees for a while. That night the room became unbearably hot to where we couldn't sleep. (80 degrees). The next morning i went back up and talked to someone new and they stated it was fixed but would look into it. Maintenance did fix the problem, and the room stayed cool. This was not a huge problem, but a small inconvenience. We had housekeeping come every day for our trash, which was good. The room did get refreshed, but they never refilled our coffee, replaced our cups, refilled our toilet paper (we had less than 1/4 roll), refilled our sugar, refilled our cutlery, refilled body soap. I called and asked housekeeping for the refills and the lady on the phone was extremely rude about it like I was bothering her. She said they would bring it and after 2.5 hours I called again and the other lady that answered was nice and ran it up within 20 minutes. I understand that everyone might be busy, but we did not go through a lot of items. it doesn't make sense that they wouldn't refill them unless they are short on product. The last thing that put me over the top is I found a cockroach in the bathroom. I understand you can't prevent bugs but come on. It is a cock roach. You would think with the money and loyalty we give Disney every year they would just take care of their guests to keep coming back. We will come back as normal, but I already have a real sour taste in my mouth from it to the point where I really would like to use my timeshare at another location. Read less

My husband and I went to Old Key West as an anniversary/second honeymoon. The resort was wonderful. We had a one bedroom villa which was amazing, the space that you get in the villa is a huge value when comparing it to other resorts standard size rooms. The buses were conveniently located so we could just hop on and get to where we needed to go. We had the best ever interaction with Carmen, she is amazing and just the absolute best, she totally understands Disney magic! She shared tips for the parks with us and even gave us a ride on her golf cart to the front area of the resort, which was very appreciated. Both Goods to Go and Olivias were amazing and accommodated allergies amazingly!! During this trip, we scheduled our time so that we had 2 park days in a row and then a day off. Everything went well until our last day, which we took as a day off. We decided to relax in our villa so we put the room occupied sign on our door and called housekeeping to let them know that we would not need services that day but just needed some supplies, which they promptly delivered. Housekeeping was absolutely amazing during our entire stay! That afternoon, I was in the bathroom and my husband was sleeping on the couch in the living room. We had the washer and dryer going, the fan was on in the bathroom, which is fairly loud, and the tv was also on. My husband heard a knock that woke him a bit and thought that it was next door, then another, to which he asked me if I was knocking. We were not expecting anyone as we had advised housekeeping and had the sign on the door. A third knock came and my husband got up to see if it was our door and before he could even get to the door, the staff member let herself in and said she was there to do a room inspection. This has never, in all the years that we have stayed ay any hotel, happened. I had literally just stepped out of using the bathroom. More to the point, if the sign is on the door and no one is answering, there is probably a reason! The entire interaction was just awkward and very unacceptable. We went down to the front desk to speak with a manager, but were dismissed by the girl at the desk with well, they have to check the rooms for guest safety and told us they look for weapons. Then we got the spiel of she went by protocol and it was very apparent we were not getting anywhere. She even told us the next time we were staying in our room to make sure we put the security bar across the door (which we totally do at night!) so the staff cannot get in. We thought the door sign was more than sufficient and it felt like the blame was being shifted back onto us, which just made us even angrier. Whatever protocol is, it should be changed. Bell services and housekeeping know how to use the room phone as both departments called us, so perhaps the room inspection staff should take a lesson and do the same if a room inspection is that imperative, especially when obvious someone is in the room.
