Emerald Faarufushi Resort & Spa Hotel

It is the first time that I come to this island with my wife for our honeymoon. The butler Haseen is very responsible. Almost all the questions I raised will be replied to me in a timely manner. Once my bike was broken, he also promptly arranged for his colleagues to help me repair it. He even prepared a honeymoon surprise for us. He is simply great. The restaurants on the island are also very delicious. If you are an Asian, it is probably thought that the Asian restaurant is quite ordinary. The other restaurants are all very surprising. The snorkeling on the island is also great. The snorkeling under the off-Mediterranean restaurant is really beautiful. Read less

Firstly a bit of background as I find it hard when reading reviews with no context to where people have been and their expectations. We are a family of 5 with 2 teenage children and a 5 year old.. This was our first time to the Maldives so we don't have any comparisons in terms of islands. We have however travelled to many 5 star resorts (Lux Belle Mare Mauritius, Sani and Ikos in Greece, Banyan Tree in Thailand, The Savoy in London...) we have high standards and l'm a bit of a nit picker. The service here exceeded every hotel we have ever been to, incredibly personal and attentive. Our villa host Elite, the bar and restaurant staff, the chefs, the kids club staff. Every single one makes you feel like the most important person in the resort. It's a different level than we've ever experienced. As you would expect from the Maldives this place is stunning. The island is small, takes around 15 mins to walk around. We had a family beach villa with pool. Water is clear and the grounds are gorgeous. Lives up to the photos, beaches like no other on earth and the water almost appears to glow. In July when we visited water temperature was 28 degrees. The sea walls to stop sand erosion were a bit of a spoiler on the views but clearly needed. Just something to be aware of if you're hoping for an uninterrupted beach view. There are more on one side of the island than the other We visited in July, as expected (and reflected in the price) we did have a few days of rain. I think the resort would benefit from a few more wet weather activities as a back up for days like these. Maybe just putting on games, quizzes... that they do in the evenings to keep guests occupied. The villa was beautiful, far bigger and more luxurious than we expected (we had watched many YouTube videos of grounds, villas but were still pleasantly surprised). The outdoor bathroom was just gorgeous. The pool worked really well for the kids and the bathing platform in it was a great way that adults could chill and children could safety play. Cleaning and mini bar top ups were faultless. The food was great. Good variation of options in the evenings and every meal was delicious. The only option for breakfast is the buffet which was fabulous but I would say got a tiny bit repetitive and maybe didn't quite live up to previous 5 star resorts in terms of choice and quality, Given the number of other restaurants they have here I really feel they should open another for breakfast. The buffet at dinner however was incredible, deliciously fresh food cooked to order. The Eclipse bar (over water with the sea lit up so you can watch the fish) was also a highlight, really unique. All inclusive really is all inclusive. Everything is covered. I've read this isn't always the case in the Maldives. Kids club was incredible. My son has never liked the idea of being left at a kids club but the staff were so lovely. They were happy for us to come and go and at first I stayed with him until he felt comfortable for me to leave. It's a huge benefit of this hotel. The staff are amazing and there so much space and so many toys. My normally very clingy son was so sad to leave, he would have spent all day there if we let him. The snorkelling was amazing, brilliant house reef. We also paid for the tour to snorkel with turtles, expensive but worth it. You can see baby sharks on the beach each morning which we loved. My daughter had some mosquito bites which swelled up. Our villa host arranged a doctor to visit our villa straight away. She was given steroid cream and antihistamines free of charge. Very good service. Previously when issues in resorts we've had to wait, travel to a doctor and been charged through the roof. This sums up the resort really, they can't do enough for you. This place is paradise and I did months of research to find something which ticked all our boxes. House reef, seaplane transfer, good all inclusive, decent selection of restaurants, activities for kids, modern and well kept villas and excellent service. It did not disappoint. This is a good place for family/couple, all the staffs are nice and helpful.Especially my host Roman, he arranged a plan for us in advance, it’s really surprised, and when we do changing of the plan he always help and efficient. The best thing they provided baby sitting services, our kids enjoyed a lot there, parents are free to join other activities. The last thing is the diving centre staff is really professional. They made me love the ocean and not scared the water. Everyone needs to dive at least once in here. Also,the environment and facilities is excellent. After we arrived here, our butler Nicole was extremely enthusiastic and helped us quickly understand the layout of the various buildings on the island. She also provided us with daily plans, which helped us have a pleasant vacation. The staff members were also very friendly and recommended some fantastic Thai cuisine and cocktails to me. The staff at the diving center were highly professional and took us on a journey to explore the mysteries of the ocean. We saw sea turtles, various corals, and schools of fish. Read less
