The hotel

A veritable castle in the heart of the city, the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver is an impeccable symbol of indulgence and pedigree. A traditional afternoon tea is also served here daily — for a special occasion, add a glass of champagne or, if the kids want to tag along, childish delights include Bubblegum Tea, fresh strawberries and cream and a giant chocolate chip cookie!

We only spent one night here on the end of our 14 day Alaskan vacation, but the hotel was beautiful and elegant. Our room was very nice and quiet. The staff was excellent; especially the concierge desk who helped up plan a day in Vancouver. It is centrally located and would please the taste and needs of the more discriminating traveler.

I would like to say that your staff are very friendly , well manered and most of all courteous. I have never experienced such treatment and I truly loved it along with my partner. Truly wished on the other hand that the pool area was fully renovated to enjoy it even more during my night there.

The hotel is conveniently located downtown Vancouver, about 10 min. walking distance to the Harbour (north) and if you like to go to the beach about 20 min. walking to the south. Plenty of restaurants and cafe shops near by if not wanting to use the restaurant in the hotel.

We waited a bit but when AC appeared to not work, we called the front desk and they said to wait as may take a while to cool down. We waited and called again and they brought up a fan which didn’t do much. We called again and they finally told us the AC is broken and we would be moved to another room. This is now close to midnight and we had to pack up our bags and move with a child. And no apology or anything from the hotel. Read less
