The hotel

Escape to the Hyatt Regency Newport Beach — this retreat sits next to the Upper Newport Bay Nature Preserve so is ideal for a bit of walking, cycling or nature viewing. You'll be welcomed by 26-acres of lush landscaping, before the lobby and bar area lure you in with a calm, coastal California chic theme. Next to the lobby bar, the patio has a fire wall and magnificent views of the bay — and those views carry through to many of the guest rooms. Take your pick from three beautiful outdoor pools: chill at the adults-only 'Indulge' pool and find a restful spot at the 'Serenity' pool, or have fun with the kids at the 'Oasis' pool. Whether your passion is shopping, dining, boating, or performing arts, you’ll find it close by. Hit the beach, take to the water on Newport Bay, or wander the shops at Balboa Island and Fashion Island. Disneyland, Knott's Berry Farm, the Aquarium of the Pacific and Laguna Beach are just a little further away.

property has many included amenities: giant/very clean pool, jaquizzi, shuffle board, giant chess, 9-hole golf, and is central to many prospective activites. I highly recommend the facility. Be watchful for hidden or undisclosed fees, though.

We had an amazing 3-day stay at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Newport Beach. The hotel is situated amidst stunning landscaped grounds featuring a golf course, tennis courts, a volleyball area, and three beautiful swimming pools. Our room, located in the main building near the front desk, was delightful with a lovely garden patio. The service at this resort hotel was truly exceptional. Every staff member we encountered went out of their way to greet us warmly and ensure we were enjoying our stay. They were always available to assist us with anything we needed. Although we didn't rent a car, we were impressed by the professionalism of the valet car parking service as we waited for our Lyft/Uber rides. It was evident that they operated with great efficiency. If you're looking for a beautiful resort with outstanding service, the Hyatt Regency Newport Beach should be at the top of your list." Read less

Once you get settled in, the this hotel feels like a stay & play resort. It has some very nice amenities with the pools, one pool side bar & a slide for the kids. On-site restaurant & lounge area. Some beautiful scenery & well manicured landscaping. The check-in process & parking situation are hard to overlook. The line to check-in took 20+ minutes. Once we started the process, we were told the room would be ready later than expected. We were also told we would get an 'ocean' view room, but ended up getting a room poolside. The parking price is over the top as well. Hundreds of open spaces & they charge $40 a night for self parking. Which requires an uphill climb to get back to the hotel property with your luggage. Inconvenient & overpriced. I'd say $20-$25 a night would make more sense. The room was clean, although it had a bit of a smell that took some getting used to. We ended up trying to spend as little time as possible in the room so it would be easier to overlook the shortcomings. The walls are terribly thin. Kids running down the halls & jumping around in the room above us. This hotel accommodates a lot of people, & you can tell by the noise. There was a beach nearby & enough experiences within the surrounding area of Newport Beach that kept us busy. The pools were fun & my son enjoyed the slide. Poolside bar was very nice as well. If you can overlook the long check-in process, outrageously priced parking & bring some earplugs... This hotel is not bad, but not great. Read less
