My partner and I visited Maritim for 2 weeks and it was paradise from the beginning. We stayed in a junior suite, if you can afford to upgrade then I would very much recommend it. The suite is very spacious and the bed is huge! It is one of the comfiest beds I’ve ever slept in. My partner is a bad sleeper and even he slept in! The room has a large shower with a beautiful bath and complimentary shower gel, shampoo etc There is a walk-in-wardrobe available with plenty of space for additional luggage too. The air con is a life saver and we were pleasantly greeted with a lovely cool room whenever we returned to it. The fridge is stocked daily and offers you Coca Cola, sprite and juices which are free of charge. There are lagers available at an additional cost. With junior suites, comes its own private pool for the occupants. We’d like to give a special shout out to Brenda at the pool bar. Thank you so much for looking after us and being your fabulous self during our stay :-) The pool isn’t deep but it’s enough for you to have a swim etc there are plenty of sun loungers available - none of this ‘I need to get up at 5am to reserve a lounger’ There are 4 main restaurants in the resort: Asian, buffet, BBQ and Mediterranean. All of which are excellent quality. I usually hate buffets but this is cooked fresh and very tasty with plenty of choice. The buffet food is stored securely away from pesky flies so you’re safe eating it :-) No complaints from us. There are plenty of bars too, our favourite is the one on the beach with a beautiful view of the sunset. The location is absolutely spot on.. right on a sandy beach. The hotel also offers free water activities such as glass bottom boats, peddle boarding, Peddlo, snorkelling and much more… again, all free! Just nip down to the boat house and book on. The staff are so friendly and can’t do enough for you. If you want something, they will do their absolute best to get it for you. They are so helpful and really go above and beyond for you. My only gripe is that ‘all inclusive’ isn’t actually all inclusive. All inclusive to me means that everything is included in your overall price but this is not the case here as there are certain things that you still have to pay for. With the price you pay to stay here, I would have thought that everything was included. It didn’t really cause too much disappointment for us as there is still plenty of choice but I think it’s definitely something that should be reviewed by management. Ignore Ray’s review, he doesn’t know what he’s talking about. This place is lovely and I would definitely return. Read less

We are on our last night of a 12 night stay at the Maratim Resort and Spa, and the final 2 days have just ruined the entire experience that was, until now, verging on exceptional. The resort is beautiful, lush, and expansive. It covers a huge area and everything is kept near immaculate. There is a private beach - disappointingly the best part of it and sunbeds are reserved for (full) Suite residents only - and multiple pools - just don't expect much from them, as they are very shallow (1.3m at their deepest) The local waters are clean and clear, providing fantastic snorkelling opportunities. There is an on-site animal farm - several giant tortoises, a handful of rabbits, a few goats, some Cockerels and a few ducks - and stables with a few reasonably healthy looking horses. The location of the resort is both it's selling point, and it's Achilles heel. It is a beautiful cove surrounded by wildlife. There are very few other resorts nearby so you do not compete for space or have droves of hawkers harassing you. But it is also so far away from civilization that you have to get a very expensive taxi (2200 MUR / £35 approx for a round trip) to nearby shopping areas, or pay the most ridiculous prices in their on-site boutique - we are talking over £2 for a FUN size bag of M&Ms, just under £7 for a 250ml Red Bull Can, £27 for a beach bag my wife found for £9 elsewhere and £38 for a Mauritius T-shirt i bought for £7 at a shop in Grand Bais. We also pre-booked tickets for Casela safari, but to get us there cost £75 for a return taxi! But, most importantly...... DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON A JUNIOR SUITE! We had room 569, Ground Floor Junior Suite. A Junior Suite is a lovely and spacious room, with all the conveniences you can possibly desire - multiple plugs, Usb sockets, drinks, fridge, huge bed and so on. You even get both a shower AND a huge bath, walk in wardrobe, and loads of storage spaces. There is a dedicated swimming pool just for the Junior Suites too - they kind of have to for a simple reason that will become clear in a moment. BUT..... They are located some distance from all amenities on site, including the restaurants. I walk briskly, and it took me a full 10mins to do the round trip from reception to the room and back when I forgot something. And the restaurants are further than reception, the bars further still, the main pools yet further, and finally the beach beyond all that. They do offer buggies to get around, but we found that the one time we really needed them due to torrential rain, we were left waiting for over half an hour before we gave up and ran through the rain to eat our dinner soaked to the skin - at which point we found the buggies still parked at reception preparing to ferry some very loud and very dry German guests around the site, presumably before they even considered coming to collect us and bring us to the restaurant. The buggies are also a menace. The paths are barely wide enough for the buggy, meaning when one comes speeding towards you, you're forced off the path to let them pass. Also, the Junior Suites back on to an area used to host events in a vast marquee. When they get going, there's nothing you can do to stop the noise penetrating your room, your head, and your soul. I am an old school raver, and in have stood directly besides gigantic speakers with less Bass and volume than is currently being pumped out. The glass bottles in our fridge are literally vibrating together at this very moment, and they are only doing "sound checks" for what we imagine is going to be a final night of hell and zero sleep before our 20+ hour journey back to the UK tomorrow. With the small nuances up until yesterday, we were still very happy with our time here and felt we were being overly critical about things - the food, for example that is very limited in options each day, but that's because it appears to be freshly cooked and is still hot when served. However, having my wife break down in tears because her dress is soaked through to her underwear whilst she tries to eat dinner because we were left stranded at our room was simply unacceptable. Not that my complaint had much impact on the receptionist who merely asserted that she HAD requested a buggy for us, and just promised us one to take us back to our room after dinner. The "event" that is setting up for tonight - for which we have had no notification and over which we have no control - is just going to be the final nail in the coffin for us about this resort. It will be our enduring memory as we leave this beautiful island, ruining what was supposed to be a romantic and peaceful exotic getaway for our 10th wedding anniversary. We will not consider returning to Maratim, and we would urge others to consider alternative options before committing to the cost of coming here. Read less

My partner Helen and I were married at the Maritim Resort and Spa in November 2024. It was absolutely perfect for us, thanks to the organisation and talent of the wedding team and all the staff at the hotel, especially Melina and Omera (wedding coordinators) and Davita. We now have cherished memories of our special day thanks to them. Aside from the wedding, we enjoyed all other aspects of our all inclusive stay - here is our review: Staff 5/5 The staff are a credit to the hotel - super friendly and always willing to help. Food and drink 4/5 We had good service throughout our stay. I liked the local pale ale and we found the red and white wine to be of a good standard. There were plenty of choices for breakfast, lunch and dinner at the buffet, and also the food at the al a carte restaurant was good too, despite a limited choice off the menu for AI (other options available with a supplement). Our wedding package included a meal at the Chatue Mon desir fine dining restaurant - wow what an evening we had! Absolutely superb. Room 5/5 Spotlessly clean, spacious, strong shower etc. excellent room and also had a nice view of the sea. Pools/Beach 5/5 Plenty of sunbeds at both, this made for a relaxing holiday as there was never a problem finding sunbeds. It’s taken this hotel to make me realise how important this is for relaxing on holiday! Things to do 5/5 Lots of activities included such as archery, pedelos, boat trip, tennis, fun games etc. for a small charge you can also water ski, parasail etc. we also found the hotel to have a very relaxed feel but with things to do day and night if you wanted it - perfect for us. All in all a dream wedding/honeymoon and we plan to return in the future for our anniversary! Read less

Jay is supported perfectly by the delightful Bachoo. On arrival and during our stay the welcoming and friendly front of house staff continue to make our stay so pleasurable. Special mention of Cherina, Vemah and Chiara who go out of their way to welcome us back and look after our every need. We must also mention two other long standing members of staff in the Belle Vue restaurant: the charming Vimla and Dannette. All of this super team is overseen by Kavita and ultimately where the buck stops with charmingly reassuring Antje. We'll definitely be back! Read less

Our fourth visit to this special hotel, and the fifth is being booked today. On arrival we were welcomed by a smiling Dhroov, who took our luggage to reception for check in. When checking in we were offered a refreshing cold drink and a perfumed towel. Kavita welcomed us back and ensured that the check in process was going well. Dhroov and Sanjeev are always available to help in any way that they can and don't understand if you want to walk rather have them give you a lift in one of the club cars to your destination within the hotel estate. A quick shower and change and we were on the way to the beach. As we had booked a suite we had a place on the reserved beach and received the welcome of a long lost friend from Jay, the beach bar steward. Jay is ably assisted on the beach by Bachoo and Dinesh, and, like all of the staff, they deal with any request with a smile and ‘can do’ attitude. We had breakfast and lunch most days at La Maree, where Chef Zubash and his team of assistant chefs and kitchen staff provide wonderful, freshly cooked, meals. The waiting staff, led by Ishwaree and Fabrice, of Rakesh, Ashi, Vydia, Sahrita, Diksha and Avinash, with other staff from the other restaurants when needed, soon learn your likes and dislikes and ensure that time spent in La Maree is enjoyable. Most evenings we had drinks at the La Maree bar where Naresh and Niche are happy to mix drinks to your preferred taste, even when the mix sounds somewhat left field to some traditionalists. We enjoyed, with our package, a number of meals at Anno 1743 and Le Banyan. Paulo, Rico and Afee at Le Banyan ensured that the Asian cuisine was served in a timely but un-rushed way. Veeran at the Anno restaurant has the biggest smile of all of the staff and his service matched his smile. Anno 1743 also has two bars; the Nest, too many steps for us to go up there this year, and the distillery. Verun, at the distillery, is highly knowledgeable about their very extensive range of Rum, Whisky and Gin. We arranged a tasting of Premium Rum and Whisky. Wow. It was great fun looking at the bottle prices of some of the bottles available. Just looking mind! All of the restaurants and bars that we visited offer their own ‘something special’. But for ‘special, special’ you must go to the Chateau Mon Desir. We had Sunday Brunch and two dinners there. Govine and Sachin look after their guests with grace and traditional etiquette. When the food is served it looks good enough to put in an art gallery and the service itself is almost theatrical. The gentle, live piano playing just adds to the ambience. The hotel has a number of taxi’s available. We used Baby as our driver. She will take you to a single destination or give you a tour of some of the sites. We found this great as we can see things at our pace. The Spa was used extensively and the service provided by Aisha, Natasha, Amalia, Rhianna, Ravi and Fanny was always exquisite. The range of treatments available ensures that there is something for everyone. All of the staff, from Managers and Directors Mr Ossentjuk, Antje, Devan and Kavita, to all of the staff keeping the beaches, grounds, rooms and corridors tidy and clean, are always ready with a smile and warm greeting. We look forward to returning to our ‘second home’ next year to be spoilt once again. Our thanks to everyone at Maritim Resort and Spa, Mauritius. Read less
