Me and my husband visited this hotel in October for a 2 week holiday. I would definitely stay well clear of this hotel. We arrived at the hotel, and the rooms were not ready we were advised to go get something to eat and have a look around the complex. We went back an hour later to reception. They told us we had to download the royalton app to book the restaurants. I was not happy, because when I go on holiday I put my phone away so I can relax. We arrive I the room it smelled damp. The main buffet restaurant for breakfast wasn’t good the plates were cold, the supposedly hot food was cold. I couldn’t have a cooked breakfast as it was swimming in grease, the selection was very poor, some of the times they ran out of certain foods, early in the service, the coffee was always cold, and there wasn’t enough staff. There was an infestation of flies in the restaurant which was never addressed, and was only getting worse. It got to the point we point blank refused to sit in certain areas, and the staff did not like this. We complained that much they knew our room number before asking for it. Normally when I go on holiday I love cocktails, but they had no drinks menu, I complained, and I was told they would have a word with the bar manager, but nothing materialised. I tried 3 different cocktails, they were that bad I couldn’t drink them. The bar staff need to be re-trained, the straws are so bad after 2 minutes the straws are all split and are unusable. You get a lot of the staff coming around the complex asking if you stay is enjoyable, but when you say no and tell them why, you get the same standard reply. The speciality restaurants aren’t the best ,but at least the food was hot. Some of the staff didn’t want to be there, I think they were just going through the motions to get paid. The pool area always stinking of sewage from the toilets, if fact I the morning going into the bathroom in the room you could smell the drains, it was awful. The kids pool was shut due to maintenance. And on the second week of our holiday people were complaining because they could hire the cabanas as they had ripped the TVs out. We heard alot of people complaining, but nothing being resolved. The entertainment wasn’t very good considering we got charged £100 for a resort fee when we arrived. If we could have got a early flight home we would have left. The management should all be sacked, for such a Badly run resort. When we were leaving to go to the airport, we told the taxi driver, and he laughed telling me everyone he has picked up have said how bad this resort is. One thing I liked on the resort was the coffee shop, after going to the buffet for meals everyone would go to the coffee shop for a decent cup of hot coffee, and the staff were wonderful, nothing was too much trouble. This resort it not worth the money. Stay away. No doubt if someone from the royalton reads this review, the respose will be very automated. Read less

My Wife & I have just returned to the UK after a lovely 8 night holiday to The Royalton Autograph in Antigua. The holiday had far more pros than cons. Cons: Our Mountain Facing Diamond Club Room was musky, had a funny smell and continued throughout the week despite the efforts of our 'Butlers' (more of these special people later). In hindsight a Bay View would have been worth the extra outlay and the room view was our mistake. The first couple of days suffered with a short staffing problem due, I imagine, to the massive con below. As such the food for the first couple of days was ropey but did improve a lot. Food turned out great in the end. Massive Con: my Wife works as a Manager and I work in Customer Service. Now the Customer Service from the staff was second to none BUT the treatment of the hardworking staff by SOME of their managers was just despicable. The always helpful staff were openly castigated and demoralised in front of customers. We all felt so bad for the frontline staff. I was so very close to saying something at the managers but didn't out of possible further retribution to our brilliant staff members. This is the only thing that is making us think twice about rebooking at the Royalton for our next break next May.....we love the Island that much). Pros: the setting, layout and ambience of the hotel was very very very nice. Very Clean though dated rooms. The beach and bay were very safe for all ages and swimming levels. The mixture of guests was great with the lovely locals, Americans, Canadians, British etc all seemingly enjoying their breaks respectfully. Kayaking was brilliant. Snorkelling off the beach was fantastic with plenty of marine life including stingrays. The view of Montesrat from the beach was a bonus as was the British Fort on the hill. Massive Pros: The front line staff. Fantastic. A shout out to Conroy one of our Butlers (we seemed to be out on our trips so didn't see as much of him as our other Butler (see below) but when we did he was great. Sharon our cleaner left our room immaculate every day. Dymond, down in the beach area worked her socks off non stop to give all guests a memorable time.....and Shanice, our other Bulter....we'd now prefer to say friend. WOW! Nothing was too much. My Wife's straighteners/flat irons didn't work so Shanice actually went shopping for us, in her own time, to get us some....otherwise my Wife would have had a very fuzzy hair week😆. Royalton really need to keep hold of this lovely lady as she is a massive asset to the Royalton Brand. If Shanice was a Waterfront Bungalow Butler we would get a loan out and stay there for a few days haha...If we do decide to return to this hotel it will be purely down to the efforts and friendly outgoing personality of this remarkable lass. Thanks Shanice for making our holiday so much better than it could have been. All the front line staff deserve a 10/10...Shanice 12/10👍🙂. I could go on and on. If the treatment of the staff by managers and therefore the retention of the great staff improves then we could see this as our goto hotel for the future. We loved it. It was ALMOST perfect. Thank you both. Also shout outs to the DC bar staff including diamond Oliver Tyrecke Syndon, lindel and Keenan to name a few. And Vanessa (Marriott champion) for helping with some reservations. The fitness guys and vibe team were also fab 😊 for trips I recommend stingray city and Shirley nights sunset party - def worth going to those. Also Kaikoconut was recommended to us although we did not get time to fit it in - you can find them on instagram and they can help arrange transport Read less
