Ive had a fantastic experience at Voco st James. An easy walk to anywhere, the staff are super friendly and engaged, Ricky runs the bar and front of house like a pro and nothing is too hard for these guys. Rooms are really quiet given its a busy part of town. Was my first time in NOLA and I would book here every time in this classy boutique hotel.… Read more

Overall, the hotel and our weekend in NOLA were GREAT! However, it kind of went downhill when we checked out. We had an early flight Sunday morning and were checking out around 4:30am. As expected we were tired and just wanted to get on the road. We got off the elevator to leave/check out, and a blonde was sitting at the front desk spinning in a chair. She said loudly, "Hi, I am Sarah and I work here." My fiancé and I chuckled and my fiancé said "Hi Sarah". She then asked, "Did you actually want something?" My fiancé stated he was wanting to check out and get a copy of his receipt. She then said, "to check out you simply just have to leave, ya know". My fiancé again chuckled and said, "Umm alright, no receipt then". Then, a gentleman came out from the back and Sarah said something along the lines of she was keeping an eye on the desk for him and these people want to check out and want a receipt. Sarah then went over to the other side of the lobby where another guy was hanging out and proceeded to start singing This Girl is On Fire at the top of her lungs. Meanwhile, keep in mind, all of this is very slurred speech. The actual front desk worker was in the process of checking us out, when Sarah and the other guy from the lobby started walking out the front door. Sarah looked at my fiancé and said, "sorry, I am just a drunk girl". My fiancé again took it in stride and chuckled and said, "no worries, you are fine. I am sorry, I just don't have the energy for you" - he said this with a laugh. Sarah, then proceeded to say, "B****h, I don't have the energy for YOU. F**k you ginger boy!" Sarah and the man from the lobby both left then. We asked the front desk worker if she actually worked at the hotel and his simply said, "yes, she does" and did not say anything else about the incident. Overall, everyone else at the hotel was great. However, this behavior is unexpectable. At the end of the day, we are a younger couple who was in NOLA for a fun weekend and to a degree can laugh this off. However, my fiancé travels all the time for work and is a diamond IHG member and I worked in hotels myself for 5+ years. We both are EXTREMELY understanding but, this was just insane and beyond unprofessional. Read less

The St James Hotel was beautiful and historic. Loved my room which was spacious and so clean. The entire hotel was spotless and clean. Even the pool and courtyard areas. She handled my check in efficiently and she was so hospitable and welcoming. Upon learning this was my first time, she offered assistance with things to do. Which was very helpful. I had a great time and will definitely return to the St James Hotel in New Orleans soon. Read less

A wonderful location in the heart of New Orleans just 3 blocks off Canal Street. The service was quite good, though at times a bit too good (we requested extra towels and the cleaning crew came in and removed them before they could be used!). Nevertheless, the staff was awesome. My only gripes were the hidden charges for concierge parking (IIRC $42/day PLUS a city tax AND sales tax!), and the honestly astronomical prices for food at the bar ($16.99 for a sandwich and chips), and the constant smell in the streets of New Orleans of rooting food waste (but the hotel had little they could do). We did enjoy the stay. The mattresses were great and the pillows were, too. My only regret was in not finding out who was the manufacturer of both. Read less

Valet parking, a parking lot across from hotel, and street parking are all offered. Front desk staff were helpful and pleasant. The ambiance upon walking in is wonderful. Classic looks with chandelier, crown molding, furniture, and artwork. It doesn’t feel like a hotel it feels like a home. A very small pool is located in building behind despite the size it was perfect spot to relax. There is a small courtyard separating the 2 buildings. The room had style with decor and the bed was soft and comfortable. Cleanliness was A+. There was a mildew smell thru out hotel but wasn’t overbearing. Read less
