Sun City Cabanas

Cabanas @sun city is a beautiful property right next to a beautiful lake. However, the service soured our stay experience there. I've traveled across continents and came across wide range of service quality. But I must say that in terms of sheer lack of courtesy, cabana cafe staff beats everyone else in the world. Forget about staff greeting you when you enter the cafe area (for reasons best known to them, they always keep a long face), the lady at the entrance Catherine treats you with a hard look and cautions you that you can not come twice for breakfast. Why? Do we look like we're coming from a food starved country? Is this the way to treat a guest? When you ask the lady at the tea/coffee counter for additional tea bag, it's thrown towards you, not handed over gracefully to you. Like you're commiting a crime by asking for one more tea bag. Second and more worrying aspect is that this rude behavior is directed mostly to guests coming from India or asian countries. What is this arrogance about when most of cabana suncity economy depends on travelers from India. Awful and sheer lack of basic professionalism. My advice to the hotel manager to look into this in priority and fix the cafe staff behavior else the time is not far when this place will be shunned by asian visitors. Read less

We had booked a midweek break with our 5yr old at the cabanas. Check in was good but that is where it stopped. The room we had been given looked like it had not been cleaned well. We found spiderwebs in the room, she bin was broken, dust on the extractor fan, Ac unit was broken and dirty, rubbish on the floor and marks on the walls. We looked past this as our 5yr old wanted to explore outside, so we left the room as a housekeeper was in the area and had tried to come into the room when we arrived. When we got back it was time for dinner, we looked at the services on the TV to see what time dinner was from. Saw it said a dinner and breakfast service. Rang the front desk and got told it only breakfast no dinner. When asked why no real answer was given. So we went down and requested the shuttle service up to the restaurant etc. was told will be 5 min. We waited 20 min before giving up and walking up. This happened twice to us. Breakfast at the hotel was OK, but some of the food was cold, spider webs in the extractor fans( This was seen both mornings we had breakfast), birds poop all over the area, tables not cleaned after people had left just new knives and forks placed. No real cleaning happening. what was the most disappointing is the fact that we had planned this trip to go to the valley of waves for our 5yr old. We got there and the kids section was closed. No notices or communication anywhere to stat it was closed, and can see it had been closed a while for work. He couldn't do any of the other rides bar the lazy river and was really upset about it. We had told him all about it and had built this day up and was gone in a split second. This was a real low point as this was the reason we had come. Overall the break for us as a family was OK, but wont be doing it again any time soon again due to the poor service and communication we received. Sad thing is i have completed the survey the management team emailed me and gave them the same account of all that happened and haven't received any kind of feedback from them.
