Sandals Royal Plantation Ocho Rios

We made our yearly trip to Jamaica and our home away from home. The best part of the vacation was connecting with our Sandals family. • Water Sports team: Fabian, Tivawne, Lloyd, Wade, Chad Wayne, Jovan • Beach Butlers - Trevado, Daniello, Romaine • Bartenders and Servers - Junior, Juvaine, Delano, Romaine, Trachelle, Garcia, Chevon, Sheena • Entertainers - Alex and Brandon • Butlers - Andre & Johovan, Adrian & Alrick, Chase, Marvin, Cheryl & Gladstone, Tamar, Bebeato • Food and Beverage managers - Lancelot and Hushane • Guest Services - Marvin and Roshane • Photoshop – Rodrigo • Island Routes tour desk - Darren (Ochi). We met Darren several years ago when he was working at the Plantation before he transferred to Ochi. Each year we track him down to say hi and see how he is doing. This year he found us while we were ordering pizzas and Jerk Chicken. • Shuttle driver - David We love spending our days sitting on the beach (water sports side) interacting with the guys from water sports and the beach butlers. They take the time to share their culture with us. They take excellent care of us. They are always very polite, happy, respectful, and engaging. They are very concerned about us and do everything possible to make sure we feel welcome and enjoy our vacation. We will continue to make this trip each year to SRP as long as we get to see our family. We hope this never changes. A special thank you to --- • Roshane - He was there when we needed assistance on our first night. Our room keys were not working. He went above and beyond to get our keys working. I think he made 3 separate trips between our room and the front desk to get the keys working. • Marvin and Lancelot – these gentlemen also went above and beyond to deliver our 'special request'. • Johovan (our butler) - he went to the store to get me cranberry juice when the bars ran out. We also enjoyed a great night of entertainment at the Rabbit Hole (Ochi) courtesy of Lady Melissa. She was wonderful. We were happy to meet and engage with the new GM, Omar. He is very approachable and a needed change. For the bad ... • the restrooms on the water sports side of the beach were out of order the entire time. We were there for 10 days and each day we had to walk up the stairs to the other side of the property for a restroom break. I had heard they had been out of order for at least 3 weeks prior. • AC was not working in the Wobbly Peacock most of our stay. It was temporarily repaired on day 7. We booked the Viceroy room. Several improvements to the rooms were nice, but the money spent could have been put to better use (i.e. fixing the AC and Restrooms or adding another restaurant/bar or designing a better way to get down to the beach). Room improvements - wall paper, changed artwork, upgraded mirrors in the bath, partial glass surround for the shower replaced the shower curtain, changed the furniture in the sitting area. In my opinion, the glass surround for the shower was a waste. It did nothing to control the shower spray. Each time we took showers, we used two towels to soak up the water. (So much for being environmentally conscious.) My husband wants the comfy chair and ottoman back in the sitting area. Read less

Booked this holiday 2 years ago. Beautiful views, very clean and staff are very helpful and can't do enough for you. Omar the manager is a real gem, mingles with guests, knows their names and was even taking lollies to guests on the beach yesterday! You don't get many managers like that. Our butlers were great especially Richard he always seemed to know where we was ad always surprised us with iced coffees and food. That's the good points, now the not so good. Avoid shopping trip this is pre arranged at certain shops, we was heavily pressured into buying items and I don't like that. They said rum could be carried on plae it couldn't husband had to put it I his rucksack and it had to be checked in. When we got to Gatwick 1 of 3 bottles were broke. Our cases had been tampered with Jamaica end, husbands luggage strap had disappeared and the front of my case had been opened. Very limited food, ended up eating sae things on restaurants, they had a jamican night which was very good. Went to Ochi but very noisey. Pool tiny and certain guests go down very early ad get all the best ones but nothing is done about it, this group are known as the VIP's as they go all the time, how dull going to the same place. Our trips seem to get better each time.A lot of the staff remember us by name and will give us a hug or hand shake and say "welcome home". It was great meeting the new GM Omar for the first time. It seems like he is everywhere on the property and greets us by name. I don't know how he can remember everybody's name! Our room butlers, Orayne and Safiya were fantastic and took care of every whim we had. The food was excellent, and if it wasn't on the menu somehow they would get it for you. The beach butlers were excellent as always. We went to sandals Dunn's River for one evening and really enjoyed dinner at the Banyu restaurant as well as the entertainment afterwards. I would highly recommend at least one visit to Dunn's River. The Beach Butlers were great as always. The only minor disappointment we had was the TV reception in the room. A lot of the channels were fuzzy and the channel listing was not up to date. It isn't that you are in your room a lot! Read less

Our 5th trip to this amazing secret gem of Sandals was so great, I’m compelled to share with others. We took this trip with my daughter and her husband for their anniversary, the first time to this resort for them. We were met upon arrival by several managers welcoming us to the resort. A very nice touch and start to our vacation. The new GM Omar (replacing a beloved Arnold who retired) was extremely personable and was always out and about making sure everyone was enjoying their day. His leadership style can be seen influencing all the staff. We’ve always enjoyed the great service, but somehow, it was even a notch better this trip. Our exceptional butler Gladstone was off the chart this trip, helping to coordinate with my daughter’s butler for a few special moments…like a private anniversary luncheon in a pavilion that I didn’t even know existed. The occupancy was low (summer heat) so I asked Gladstone if I could see some higher-level rooms to possibly upgrade when we receive our free week in a few months. He coordinated with Lashaun and within 10 mins we looked at 3 very nice suites. While looking at the 2nd suite, Lashaun informed Gladstone that we were upgraded immediately to the 1st suite we saw. This was a huge surprise and the first time we’d been upgraded. A big thank you to Lashaun for making this happen. We decided then that our free week would be back to this wonderful resort, because the service and people are second to none. Played several rounds of golf and unfortunately my regular caddy Fabian was unavailable this trip. However, Wesley caddied for me in Fabian’s place and was exceptional. The second round he knew exactly what club I would hit next. Huge points to Wesly for making it an enjoyable experience. I’d also like to give a shout out to the caddy master for his professionalism and outgoing personality. Atryu Lewis always made sure cart and caddy was ready when I walked out of the pro shop. The East Wing rooms received a very nice refresh with newly painted and appointed rooms. New chairs and tables helped to ensure the warm Jamaican feel of the Mahogany bed. Also, there’s a new conversation/firepit area that looks amazing…a great addition to this resort. The entertainment…which has been lacking in the best….was excellent this trip with several talented singers. Again, a special thanks to all the staff that makes this such an amazing hidden gem. Truly the most beautiful & relaxing trip of our lifetime. The reviews I read prior did not disappoint. Our private shuttle driver Davian was such a pleasure from his knowledge of the island and Sandal’s Royal Plantation (SRP). Such a friendly, professional and courteous demeanor. What a way to begin our 45th anniversary. AND it continued to get BETTER! The general manager (GM), Omar is a man my husband and I will always remember. From Omar on down, I cannot express how impressed we both were once we stepped onto this “honey hole” of a resort until our departure. I am a firm believer any successful business is as good as its management. We cannot praise SRP manager, Omar enough. He is seen each day throughout the resort, knowing your name and making one feel at home. Our butlers, Bebeato and Marvin are a team. Together each diligently worked to insure our needs/wants were granted. Each evening when returning to our suite (balcony suite on West beach), there was a surprise treat to greet us. On our anniversary date, they both went above and beyond anything we expected by decorating our room, candlelit, flowers, happy anniversary projected on the ceiling with a music video playing on the tv. This done strictly for our very own personal holiday meant for just US! This act from our very own butlers, Bebeato and Marvin made both our hearts smile. The resort and grounds are very well maintained. Clean and beautiful throughout. Ample facilities from freshly baked cookies, coffee, tea, ice cream, popcorn and never ending food and cocktails. The pool is small, but never full or overcrowded because there is plenty of room from West beach, East beach and the pool area. West beach was more popular than East beach. Plenty of room for everyone. The water - BEAUTIFUL! Showers each day we were there lasting no more than 30 minutes. Afterward, clear and beautiful skies with such a bright, deep blue Caribbean Sea. It is humid. Being from southern Texas we are accustomed to such humidity. Housekeeping kept our suite super clean, fully stocked with toiletries and fresh towels each day. Bebeato and Marvin insured our balcony bar was fully stocked with the alcohol of our choice, water, sodas, juice, wine, beer, champagne and an igloo full of ice replenished each day. Our favorite breakfast was served by our butlers on our balcony overlooking West beach 4 out of 8 days. PAMPERING… TOTALLY in awe! From the beach butlers, Trevardo & Romaine. The bartenders at the Wabbly Peacock, Delano and Romaine. Entertainment, Alex and Brandon. EVERYONE and I mean everyone always knew our names and what our alcohol/drink of choice was. Impressed? YESSS! Being a born/raised Texan, I greet my friends with “Wassup”? (How is it going)? Quickly, Trevardo - Trey we called him, would always approach me saying “Wassup”? Which made me feel warm and right at home. He was a genuine pleasure. Delano - Del we called him, I cannot express how much he made me smile and made me feel so welcome. A true mixologist of his craft. His bright smile would radiate throughout the Wabbly Peacock and those he had the pleasure to serve. A genuine friend I will always remember. And Alex, how could I not mention YOU? Such a sweetheart! He headed the entertainment at SRP and did so very well. One day he had a break in his duties and came directly to my husband and I on the beach just to talk and get to know us and vice versa. Such a welcome pleasure. Almost each evening at the end of his day he and Brandon would meet up with my husband and I in the pool table area. It was so much fun hanging out with these two. Alex was the highlight of our evenings prior to retiring to our suite for the night. I could go on and on. There is much more I could say, but I wouldn’t want to spoil anyone entertaining the thought of coming to this hidden gem of a resort. Soooo, if you have any doubts about choosing SRP, DON’T! Pull the trigger and see for yourself what the three RRR’s are all about! REFRESHING, RELAXING and REVITALIZING! This small resort is perfect for those of you who are looking for a secluded, tropical paradise full of pampering. It is full of love you won’t find anywhere else. As we were greeted when we arrived “WELCOME HOME”. There is no two words more true. I already miss HOME. We so look forward to returning again.
