Mammoth Mountain Inn

Mammoth, California

Virgin rating

The hotel

Built in 1957, Mammoth Mountain Inn was Mammoth's first ski-resort accommodation and the only slope-side hotel at Mammoth's Main Lodge. Today it offers activities year round — in summer there's hiking, biking and outdoor adventures, and in winter it's a core skiers' and snowboarders' paradise, with the ultimate entry point to the slopes. Ski to the hotel at the end of the day and you can soon be blowing the steam off your hot toddy. Take a dip in the outdoor pool or one of the indoor or outdoor hot tubs. The Yodler dining terrace is the ideal place for a light snack on a sunny day and the great après-ski atmosphere in the Dry Creek Lounge is further enhanced by regular live music.

To top it off, she even upgraded our room to one with a better view! Her kindness and helpfulness truly made our trip special. Thank you, Tatiana! Read less

We can late looking for a room. Sidney was great, she helped in getting us what we needed. She was polite, helpful, professional and addressed all our questions. The rooms were clean, teen bed was comfortable, and the coffee machine, which was not working was replaced in a very short time

Mammoth Mountain Inn never disappoints. It is an excellent location before starting and ending backpacking trips on various trailheads of the John Muir trail. My friends and I have stayed here 3 years in a row. Although the Inn is on the lived in side (rustic and iconic), it is always clean, the ambiance is fantastic and the service is always stellar. Case in point, Tatihana M. was awesome! Friendly, professional, informative, helpful and efficient. It’s people like Tatihana that will keep us coming back to the Mammoth Mountain Inn for years to come. Thank you Tatihana! Read less

We could imagine how the calm atmosphere in the mid-summer transforms to a fast moving hub of activity during ski season! From the Inn we took the bus to Devils Postpile and enjoyed several hours of exploration. The Mammoth Mountain Inn was to us a perfect destination and starting point for so many great hikes, including the Pinnacles and the gondola! Read less
