A fabulous mountain resort with excellent ski and spa facilities. European in style, the Vail Marriott exudes charm and personality. Everything’s in walking distance including the gondola to whisk you off to ski runs galore. The hotels Golden Leaf Spa offers a range of treatments – the perfect antidote to an action-packed day on the slopes! There is also fabulous dining in Vail but First Chair Cafe probably does the best buffet breakfast in town - the choice is extensive. Come sundown, Avalanche Pub is an après ski hot spot; soak up the atmosphere awhile before feasting on American fare over at the cosy, laid-back 7one5.

Really perfect Thanksgiving weekend at The Hythe for our family. Great snow in Vail of course added to the joy but the hotel was really perfect. From Michelle at the front desk to Chris the concierge everyone was splendid. The breakfast buffet is full and fresh and the hotel renovations have provided tons of space to gather and mingle on both the 1st and 2nd floors. Great hot tubs, well equipped gym, easy access to the mountain…it’s become our go to Vail hotel and we will be back. Our only minor quibble would be that the price of the hotel Thanksgiving buffet was a tad excessive but that was the only flaw. Looking forward to another trip in March.

Underwhelming

This was my first stay at a Luxury Collection property, and frankly, I expected more.

Yes, the property looks amazing and has a great vibe. However, the level of service didn’t match our expectations. Understand that we are not the typical, target clientele for this property. We are a hard working middle class couple from rural Ohio who really extended ourselves to experience this resort.
We took advantage of off season rates to celebrate our anniversary in a special way. Unfortunately, nothing else was priced for the off season. $60 valet parking. $50 resort fee. Expensive dining. Expensive spa services. We could have easily spent 2-3x our room rate in incidentals. Off season should be off season discounts across the board.
I never did get a clear indication as to what the resort fee was offering me.
Overall, the service was lackluster. No one went out of their way to make us They feel welcome or special. The staff seemed very cold and dismissive.

A really great resort

First time visiting Vail. This hotel is beautiful. Room was a a little small but manageable. Staff was very nice and interactive. Great breakfast and the bar on the second floor was also very nice. We will definitely make plans to return in the spring
Disappointing + Not in alignment with other Luxury Collection Hotels

I typically only use TripAdvisor to leave positive reviews because I find many travelers are quick to come to review sites to complain about small things. But unfortunately, our experience was such at this hotel that I feel compelled to share about it for those considering this property. While I want to note that the staff at this hotel were friendly and kind, I was incredibly disappointed in our stay, and it really didn't compare to other "Luxury Collection" hotel experiences.
Given our Marriott status, we were "upgraded," but upon entering the room, it didn't look like the style/quality of the (smaller) suite we had originally booked, nor to the online images of the room to which we were supposedly "upgraded." I'm including both the actual picture of our room with screenshots from The Hythe's website. Also notable is how terribly designed the furniture in our bedroom was for the space. If you love absolutely destroying your shins every time you want to get in bed, then I suppose this must be the hotel for you.
What's worse, our room had the most uncomfortable hotel bed I've probably slept in in a decade. Lumpy and sagging, and certainly nowhere near my expectations of a Luxury Collection property. We typically stay in other hotels in Vail, but I wanted to give a Marriott hotel a try over our go-tos, and candidly, I'm disappointed with myself that I did. My husband and I both couldn't wait to get home so we could actually get a good night's sleep.
Lastly, and perhaps most alarmingly, many aspects of our room were unclean: Dirty spoons in the silverware drawer, hair all over the bathroom drawers, a stained shower. I used up a container of Clorox wipes as we tried to settle into our room.
While I completely recognize that hotel rooms are upgraded and changed over time within a building, it was clear we were put in an outdated room, and our stay was disappointing as a result. Sadly, we'll be staying elsewhere next time we're in Vail.

Horrible room. Penthouse on the third floor ????
Aug 30, 2024andytravelbug1Colorado
Upon check-in. We realize that the room we reserved was not the room we got when I went back down to the front desk they made all kinds of excuses, and tried to convince me that that was the room that I had booked, worst bait and switch of all time, the room was dirty, smelly, and extremely crusty.

There was no way I was going to stay in that room for the price that I was paying. Management and the front desk were not helpful at all. The lobby and all of the amenities seemed very nice however somehow the “penthouse” that I booked was on the third floor.
There is no way that I would ever stay there. I’m shocked that it is considered a luxury collection property do better Marriott
